Mission Statement

The mission of the Western (VIC) Tamil Seniors club is to provide information and opportunities to promote active and healthy aging, holistic living focussing on fitness, happiness and well-being of Senior members of Tamil community residing in Western Victoria region in Melbourne Australia so they can continue living productively and purposefully and are able to make a meaningful contribution to the community. We offer networking and peer support for various hobbies, interest groups, cultural, entertaining programs and services to our members.

Our objective is to provide a warm, welcoming place to meet other seniors that live in this region that offers understanding, empathy and peer support in dealing with various aging related issues affecting their physical and mental health. We aim to provide a safe non-judgemental platform where Senior members of the local Tamil community can openly discuss about all these issues with their peers and find support in dealing with these issues.

We also organise various social and cultural activities that provide opportunities for social interaction, networking, building new friendships and facilitate accessing various community services. We wish to provide a sense of belonging and to eliminate feeling of isolation and loneliness (a leading cause of depression) in Tamil Senior population in the Western Suburbs, enabling them to lead abundant and successful lives by taking an active part in the various activities organised by our club. We want all Seniors to join us so we can build new enriching friendships and sustain and nurture old friendships, develop resilience in coping with life changes, lower stress and enjoy the freedom along with the wealth of wisdom that comes naturally with age.
